Advent & Christmas Eve Service
This is a very special time of the year at New Heights Church, as we prepare and wait for the celebration of Christmas. Four weeks before Christmas, beginning on Sunday, November 30, we will gather during our weekly worship service for prayer and the lighting of the candles in the Advent wreath. Each candle reminds us of the promise of God to give peace, love, joy, and hope, through His Son, Jesus Christ. On Christmas Eve, December 24, an inspirational evening worship service will take place at 6:30 PM, as we light the Christ candle. Please plan to join us for each of these wonderful services.

"We Were So Blessed!"
Harvest Dinner
What a wonderful turn out to celebrate the harvest of blessings God has bestowed on New Heights and each of its members. We were so blessed to have such a great time of fellowship on Sunday, November 16. We began the day with a worship service of thanksgiving and praise. This special service was followed by a delicious turkey dinner, complete with all the trimmings and pumpkin pie. Many invited their friends and neighbors to this day of celebration. Everyone was welcome!
Each church family contributed to the meal making for a marvelous banquet of delectable dishes. We hope you will consider joining us for our next celebration here at New Heights, "Where everyone is part of the family!" Watch this web site for up coming events. We look forward to seeing you next time.

Children's Harvest Festival
Although the weather was cold and wet, the event just moved indoors. What a wonderful, fun-filled afternoon of games, crafts, and other activities the children (and adults) had at the first Harvest Festival! All children of the community were welcome to come and enjoy this time of seasonal fun. Some were proudly wearing their favorite costumes and other in street clothes. A great time was had by all! They decorated pumpkin cookies, made a fall craft, and played pumpkin bean bag toss and other theme based games. Lots of candy and prizes were available to reward their efforts.
When the children (or adults) needed a break from the activity, the children had their picture taken at our decorated "Harvest Photo Spot" and enjoyed a snack of popcorn and drinks from the snack bar.
There was no charge for this event. All activities were free and no donation was required. If you missed this event this year, we hope you will keep it mind for next year, as plans are being made to make this an annual event for the children.

Dinner & Discussion
The last gathering of Dinner and Discussion concluded on Thursday, November 13. This has been a marvelous time for the church community to laugh, learn, and enjoy a tasty meal together. After a break for the holidays, dinner and discussion will resume in the new year.
If you are looking for an interesting evening of delicious dinning and thought provoking discussion, Dinner and Discussion is just the ticket. First the evening kicks off with a fun time of fellowship for the entire family as we share in a delicious prepared meal. Each week the menu is theme oriented, (Italian, Mexican, Pot Luck, etc.) Participants are asked to bring one item to contribute to the meal.
Following the meal the adults and the children break into separate groups for a time of enrichment, learning, and discussion. The children are taught a Bible lesson in a fun hands-on fashion. The adult session begins with viewing a thought-provoking video, based on a biblical principle. A challenging discussion follows the video clip.
Watch for the announcement of the start of the next session in 2009. Everyone is welcome to attend. Contact the church office for more information.

Ladies' Pumpkin Day
Saturday, October 11
The ladies attended the 5th annual Pumpkin Day. They had a great time of fellowship and a trip to Volant for some seasonal shopping. Departing from the church at around 10:30AM, the first stop was in Portersville for lunch at Brown's Country Kitchen. As always, the food and pie were delicious. During lunch the ladies had a fall-themed gift exchange. What fun that was as they selected, traded, and swapped their new prizes. Then it was on to Volant for an afternoon of shopping and fellowship. The ladies returned to the church around 5:00 PM.
If you missed joining the ladies for Pumpkin Day this year, keep it in mind for next October when they celebrate the 6th Annual Pumpkin Day! Watch for other exciting opportunities for fellowship in the future.
