New Heights Church of God
Outreach and Missions

New Heights Church of God supports international mission work

through the Global Missions of the Church of God of Anderson, Indiana.

From time to time special mission projects are adopted by the congregation.

"Helping Hands Wish Tree"

In order to help a needy family with four children in Franklin Park, this Christmas, the "Helping Hands Wish Tree stands in the back of the sanctuary covered in gold stars. On each star is the name of a child and some needed items.  Your help is needed to make their Christmas merry. Please take a star from the the tree and purchas the items.  Return the unwrapped gifts along with the tags before December 19th.

Monetary donations are also being accepted.  The money will be used to purchase other items needed, such as diapers and basic necessities.

New Heights is always looking for opportunities to serve in our community and we are grateful to be of service in this situation.  Your generous donations will be greatly appreciated.

Christmas in the Dominican

During the month of November New Heights had the opportunity to contribute to the Christmas of some of the children in the Dominican Republic again this year.  Partnering with Ron and Carol Baker, the church sent Christmas gifts to the children.  Ron and Carol work with children of all ages, infant to 18 years of age in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

Some of the gifts included new lightweight clothing and socks for boys and girls, toys, small cars, trucks, dolls, hair ribbons, toy dishes, school supplies, coloring books, crayons, and storybooks (in Spanish). Also sent were hygiene items such as soap, toothbrushes, shampoo and wash clothes. Some small gifts for the children to give to their parents were also included.

The congregation is grateful to have this opportunity to share some of our blessings with the children. The gifts were collected the first three Sundays in November.  Cash donations were also accepted to help defray the cost of transporting the gifts.  Ron plans to deliver the gifts on his next mission trip.

If you would like to continue to contribute to this worthwhile mission project drop Ron and Carol Baker at World Missionary Association.  If you would like to know more about this organization, or to make a donation, visit their web site at www.wmamissions.org

NHCOG Children Reach Out to the World

During Vacation Bible School 2008 the children collected school supplies for the children on the Isle of Hispaniola.  The school supplies will be delivered to the children of Haiti and the Dominican Republic by missionaries, Ron and Carol Baker on their trip to the island in September.  On the first day of VBS, Carol shared about their past trips to the the island.  She told the children about the simple life that the children of the DR have and how they appreciated everything because they have so little.  The VBS children enjoyed the stories and a display of items and video Carol and Ron brought to show.  If you would like to contribute school supplies for the children of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, contact the church office.

Opportunity for Outreach

During the month of December in 2007, New Heights Church of God collected items for the organization VOICe.  VOICe (Victim Outreach Intervention Center) is a non profit organization that provides services to individuals and families who are survivors of violent crime.  They support the survivors of many types of violent crime, such as rape, sexual assault and domestic violence.

The organization is located in Butler County but services the northern communities of Pittsburgh, including Franklin Park.  VOICe provides community living for victims with a capacity of 15 people.  They are always at or above capacity. Most of the residents are women and children.  The maximum stay is 30 days with extensions available.  They do receive funding from the PA Coalition for Domestic Violence, but depend greatly upon the community for support.

VOICe continues to be in need of many items. New Heights will further their efforts to support Voice through out the new year.   If you would like to contribute contact Cheryl Milburn.
