Local Mission Work
New Heights Church was once again able to brighten the Christmas celebration of two local families through collection of monetary donations. The donations were collected by Sunday, December 20th and toys and family necessities were purchased for these Franklin Park families. We were grateful to share our blessings with those in the community. This mission project was organized by Outreach Chairperson, Cheryl Milburn.

Christmas in the Dominican
During the month of November New Heights once again had the opportunity to contribute to the Christmas of some of the needy children in the Dominican Republic. Partnering with Missionaries, Ron and Carol Baker, the church sent Christmas gifts to the children. Ron and Carol work with children of all ages, infant to 18 years of age in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Some of the suggested gifts that were included were:
new lightweight clothing and socks for boys and girls, toys, small cars, trucks, dolls, toy dishes, hair ribbons, school supplies, coloring books, crayons, and hygiene items such as soap, toothbrushes, shampoo and wash clothes.
The congregation was grateful to have this opportunity to share some of our blessings with the children. The gifts were collected the first three Sundays in November. Cash donations were also accepted to help defray the cost of transporting the gifts.
If you would like to continue to contribute to this worthwhile mission project or if you would like to know more about this organization and their mission work, you can contact Ron and Carol Baker at World Missionary Association. Visit their web site at www.wmamissions.org.

Local Food Banks Need Your Help!
Due to the struggling economy, the area food banks are at an all time low. Beginning Sunday, November 8, New Heights Church of God will begin to collect non perishable food items to send to the local food banks.
This ongoing project is another way we can help our needy brothers and sisters in the local community. There are no specific items or deadlines, just bring your food items to the church each week and place them in the bin in the back of the fellowship area.

College Ministry Collects for Fall Treats
Through the years, New Heights has ministed to many college students. We try to let them know that we are thinking of them and praying for them throughout the year. For a fall treat, this year, plans are being made to purchase a store gift card for the students to use. These store gift cards could be used for whatever the students need; food, snacks, school supplies or personal items. Please place your contribution in the green box on the information table or mail it directly to the church office.

Brad Posey Joins DR Mission Team
Brad Posey, member of New Heights Church of God joined the missionary group headed for the Dominican Republic on August 17. The team served alongside the Dominican national pastors in two of the churches planted by The National Association of the Church of God. In Jarabacoa they constructed a platform in their newly constructed church and built partitions to assist in providing an area for children's worship and instruction. They also installed paddle fans to help make the church more comfortable. The average temperature there is a humid 90 degrees.
The second church the team worked with is in Las Praderas. They helped with electrical work and did carpentry work including building a platform and a drop ceiling. The missionary team spend time with the children and youth of the areas. They returned back to the states on August 28 excited about the work the Lord had done through them in the Dominican and looking forward to the next opportunity when they can go again.
This missionary work is affiliated with The World Missionary Association and was organized and lead by Rev. Ron Baker, the Associate Director. If you would like more information about their trips and the organization or if you would like to contribute to this mission work; visit their web site at www.wmamissions.org .
2009 "Jammin' in the Jungle"
Reaches out to Missionaries in Paraguay
The mission project of this year's Children's Summer Program, "Jammin' in the Jungle with the Amazon Outfitters," found the perfect match with missionaries Noberto and Julie Kurrle, who are located in Paraguay, South America. The Kurrle's serve as directors of Radio Alternativa, a radio station in southern Paraguay owed by the Church of God. It is the only Chrisitian radio station in the state of Itapua that offers not only quality Christian programming, but organizes marriage retreats, childrens camps, conferences, and concerts. It is helping the children that caught the ears of the VBS organizers. The Kurrles were trying to raise money to purchase tables and chairs for the children's school. This was a project that all the children of New Heights could identify with.
Being a "small" church with a "small" VBS program the director thought that it would be grand if the children could contribute enough to purchase 1 table and 4 chairs. Each day of "Jammin' in the Jungle" the total kept growing and growing. At the end of the week, the children and their families had contributed enough to buy 3 tables and 12 chairs! What an awesome "big" God we serve!
"Helping Hands Wish Tree"
In order to help a needy family with four children in Franklin Park, this Christmas, the "Helping Hands Wish Tree stood in the back of the sanctuary covered in gold stars. On each star was the name of a child and some needed items. The church responded in a generous fashion to help make their Christmas merry. Each child received numerous toys and new clothing. Family gifts of new blankets, towels, sheets, socks, diapers and sippy cups were included.
Monetary donations were also accepted and were used to buy gift cards to a local merchant, so that the family could purchase other items and basic necessities.
New Heights is always looking for opportunities to serve in our community and were grateful for the opportunity to be of service in this situation. The generous donations of the congregation were greatly appreciated.
