Youth MinistryIYC!!!!! IYC What an experience! The youth and their leaders departed by car early on Sunday, July 13. They were very excited about this year's International Youth Convention. The convention, which occurs every other year, was held in San Antonio, Texas, on July 14 through July 17. This life-changing event offered the youth the opportunity to worship and fellowship with other Christians from around the world. It was an exciting time to see so many young people come together for the purpose of sharing and growing in the Word of the Lord. The theme of the convention was "Reflect," based on the scripture found in 1Corinthians13:12-13 . . . "and now these three remain; faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." The youth heard many nationally known speakers and recording artists, such as Chris Tomlin, Craig Gross, Charlie Hall, Louie Giglio, and Becky Tirabassi. Thanks to all who made great efforts for the youth to be able to attend this convention through their fundraising events. A special collection was taken on Sunday, July 6 to help the Youth get to Texas. If you were unable to attend and would still like to make a tax deductible contribution, send your individual check to the church, made out to New Heights Church of God Youth Ministry.
YOUTH MEETINGS Youth meetings are opened to all students in grades 6 through 12. If you know of a youth that would benefit from this time of Christian fellowship and instruction, contact the youth leaders (Stew Silvis or Lisa Myers). On Going Fundraisers: "Gifts in a Jar" For your gift giving the youth are offering serveral gift items in jars. Currently the youth have available scented candles in a jar. The candles are available at the information table. There are many different fragrances, from banana nut bread to gingersnap to spiced apple cinnamon. Delicious "cookies in a jar" mixes, as well as hot chocolate drink mixes and soups are also available. Stop by the table and purchase some "Gifts in a Jar" and help the youth earn their way to the next International Youth Convention.
"Change for the Soul" The youth are continuing to collect change from the congregation to help fund their future activities (such as their trip to IYC 2010). The theme of this fund drive is Change for the Soul. Save you change and turn it in in the container at the church office. All donations are greatly appreciated. Refreshments at Friday Night Flicks and Movies in the Park The Youth sponsor a well supplied concession stand at the movies held at the church and the park on Friday nights. Be sure and stop by and purchase your drinks, candy, snacks, and popcorn from the youth. All proceeds will help the youth with various activities.
